Since Shopify uses Liquid templating language Fabrika’s first step was to gain in-depth knowledge of Liquid. Then our dedicated e-commerce team started using the Debut theme to customize its design in every aspect. We used several plugins in order to have complete control of the frontend design, with custom fields and layouts, while simultaneously leaving customization control to the users once the project was delivered. This particular method of allowing customization options for the end user results in a completely custom, bespoke and unrestricted theme.
Once each e-commerce project was delivered the client usually had very specific Shopify-related questions. Our dedicated development team thus became expertly familiar with all Shopify features, to help guide the client through “opening” up their shop, uploading their content and preparing everything for sales and delivery.
Shopify has a large marketplace of plugins for various applications. As Fabrika works with e-commerce clients from a variety of different industries - from outdoor clothing to high-end jewelry - we need to have intimate knowledge of what plugins are applicable, necessary or recommended for our clients. In certain cases, delivery and returns related plugins were very important, since Shopify does not have out of the box solutions to help automate printing return labels and managing the process in the admin. There were also instances when clients were selling unique clothing products, without standardized sizing, and thus needed a plugin solution that can be edited for their non-standard clothing sizes.
